Fostering in Sutton
We are FosterCare UK and we’re looking for people in Sutton who want to become new foster parents. We work local authorities – including Sutton council – offering much needed fostering services for children and young people in the South East of England. We need your help to make sure that we can continue to provide this essential service in your location area. By becoming a foster carer we can make sure that the thousands of children and young people without a loving home in the Sutton area are offered the support they need. We’re especially looking for those able to provide for a mother and baby and take on a parent and child fostering placement.
Have you ever wondered to yourself “can I foster?” – because the answer is yes! We think that foster care should be for everyone. We don’t mind whether you’re married or not, your age, your race, your religion, your gender or your orientation. If you’ve ever thought of becoming a foster carer we urge you to contact us – it’s the only thing you need to do to start your journey to become a foster parent!
Once you’ve got in touch with our London office – either by phone or on-line – we’ll organise to come over for a chat and to fill out a Form F Assessment. This will give us a chance to meet with you, your family and look around your home and make sure you have everything you need to provide a great fostering service. This includes a large, good heart, a sense of humour and, essentially, a spare room.
When you’ve completed this assessment you’ll work with a local supervising social worker who will offer support and answer all your questions about fostering during your application process.
We’re often asked how much experience people need to become foster carers. The answer is none – we’ll provide all the training and support you need to become a great foster carer and kick-start your fostering career. Whether it’s working with our professional London team, or meeting and learning from our existing foster carers, we’ll always be there to offer information and support. We don’t think that anyone should go through this process alone.
We know that some potential carers are concerned about fitting foster care in with the rest of their life. If you foster a younger child, it can be easy to fit in their care with the care of your existing child. If you foster an older child or young person, it can be easy to fit foster care in with your existing job and career. You will also, by providing such an essential foster care service, be provided with a care allowance to help cover the costs of caring for child or young person.
