Fostering in Strood
If you live in Strood and have ever thought about fostering, we at FosterCare UK urge you to get in touch with us and find out if it’s right for you. Our carers have told us that being a foster parent is one of the most rewarding careers imaginable. We would like you to consider joining our team in Strood so that we can continue to provide the most positive type of fostering to the looked after children and young people of the town.
It has been shown that when children and young people can remain in their own hometown while being placed, it is a happier experience for them. Because of our very high success rate with placements, we strive to keep our efforts focused on the most positive arrangements.
We have an ongoing need for short and long-term placements as well as sibling group placements and parent and child placements. Each child we support is different, and so is each carer. We embrace that difference and work closely with the local authority of Medway Council and our own carers so that the best possible placement can be made.
A note of explanation: Children are taken into care by local authorities, which then make the appropriate placements. To provide the number and quality of foster homes that are needed, the local authority contracts with independent fostering agencies such as FosterCare UK. We focus on finding ways and means to provide positive outcomes in the lives of these youngsters.
Our most recent Ofsted report rated us highly and noted that our “Highly qualified and experienced supervising social workers provide foster carers with excellent support. The agency has exceptional foster carer retention; foster carers are immensely happy with the agency.” One carer was quoted as saying about us, “They are fantastic; they go over and above in their support.”
FosterCare UK is also pleased to offer an extra level of support to our carers and looked after children and young people. Our Multidisciplinary Assessment & Treatment service (MATs) is a therapeutic fostering service that provides children and young people with more complex behaviour that extra level of support that they need to feel safe and happy.
As for who we are looking for in Strood, we need people who are over 21, have a spare bedroom, good health, plenty of patience, and lots of energy. If you are already an approved carer, it is a streamlined process to join our team and we can help you with that procedure. If you are an empty nester, retired, or someone who has more space in your heart and your home for an additional member of your family, we are ready to work with you through the assessment process.
Imagine a career where you can have a day out with the kids at a theme park or a family picnic. Imagine having a happy home where the laughter of children at play is a regular part of your “work” day. Our average allowance is £495 per week, per child. This covers household expenses, the child’s clothing, school lunches, and all other aspects involved in caring for a young person.
We support people across Kent to become carers. Now we need you in Strood. To find out if you can join us, contact your local fostering team for a chat on 0844 800 1941. You can also send us a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
