Fostering in Rochester
FosterCare UK is actively seeking carers and those who are interested in becoming a foster carer in Rochester. We work with the local authority of Medway Council to place children and young people from the town that the local authority has taken into care. This is who we are looking for – people who are resilient, open minded and child-focused.
One of the outcomes of our fostering services, since we began in 2007, is the fact that we have great success with our placements. An amazing 97% of our foster placements succeed. FosterCare UK’s looked after children and young people stay in education longer and fare extremely well in life. Being able to provide this level of stability is a major factor in their ability to thrive. It also is a good indication of the great satisfaction our foster carers have in the work they do.
We bring the best carers to our team and when they are with us, we invest in a training and development programme that helps them continually develop their skills. We have a registered manager who ensures that educational support is provided if needed, an educational psychologist, and a speech and language therapist. It’s a strong team.
FosterCare UK is also pleased to offer a Multidisciplinary Assessment & Treatment service (MATs). This therapeutic fostering service provides children and young people with more complex behaviour that extra level of support that they need to feel safe and happy.
As well, we provide a basic weekly allowance that covers general household expenses, food, mileage, school meals, the child’s clothing, and pocket money. There is an additional weekly fee, if needed for any special needs. The fees vary depending on the child but on average the allowance is approximately £495 per week, per child.
If you are interested, here is some basic information should you wish to consider joining us. We are an independent agency with the expertise to provide excellent support and training. The reason we are eager to work with people in Rochester is that the ability to have a placement in the youngster’s own community contributes to their future success. As you can see, we are proud of our outcomes. With more loving families in the town, we are able to provide the type of secure, safe, and happy home we pride ourselves in.
If you have a spare bedroom in your house, you meet the first requirement. If you happen to have more than one spare bedroom, that is even better as we often want to place a sibling group together. Speaking of your home, you don’t have to own it. If you rent, so long as your landlord approves, that is wonderful. Male or female, single or married, think about fostering as a new career.
You need to be in good health and over 21. We will work with you through the entire assessment process from the initial interview to the DBS check to the training sessions and to the final review procedure. We have a vibrant and proactive team and a very happy roster of carers.
