Fostering referrals in Brixton

Our Duty and Referrals Team will need some key, up to date information of the child or young person, along with a brief summary of the current situation. We will also need the history of the child, including their medical and educational details and achievements to date.

FosterCare UK will:
- Only match the child/young person to a family, that most resembles their own family's culture, religion and lifestyle.
- Gather and collate as much information as possible about the young person.
- Identify the foster carers in Brixton with vacancies and the required expertise and skills to meet the young person's needs and Care Plan.
- Contact the foster carers identified immediately to ensure an appropriate dialogue around support and placement needs.
- Ensure that the needs of any other young people in placement, including birth children (if applicable) are taken into account as part of the matching process.
- Consult with the Local Authority of any children currently placed with the foster carers.
- Ensure that the foster carers are fully informed, aware and make a commitment to the placement needs prior to agreeing to move ahead.
