At FosterCare UK we are happy to receive applications from foster carers who wish to transfer from an existing agency. As with all careers, we recognise that sometimes a change or different challenge is needed.
As a foster carer, you have a right under the Fostering Network Transfer of Foster Carers Protocol 2012 to change fostering providers.
We realise that your foremost concern is to the stability of the child or young person in your care. So is ours. That’s why our first consideration will always be not to disrupt the child’s placement whilst continuing the positive work you have achieved so far.
In most cases, following a protocol meeting with the Placing Authority, an agreement can be reached for the child to transfer to FosterCare UK with you. We always promise a commitment to maintaining the current terms of the placement to you and the Placing Authority, meaning you will continue to receive at least the same level of payment. In such cases, the terms of placement, for both yourself and the Local Authority, will be honoured for its duration – after which further placements will be offered under FosterCare UK’s placement terms and conditions.
If you currently don’t have a child or young person in placement the process is significantly simpler, but we will continue to work to the same criteria in terms of completing a full and robust fostering assessment.
It is not FosterCare UK policy to recruit foster carers who are approved by Local Authorities.
